Murphysboro Centuries, 1st secular

Gaius Caligula, 37-41AD was the grandson of Augustus. He was popular and apparently a good ruler when he first came to power. After a few months he got sick (a high fever) and was never the same after that. Supposedly he had his horse elected consul (highest elected Roman office), literally pimped his sisters, declared himself to be a god, and wanted statues of himself placed in every temple (including the one in Jerusalem). His paranoia and strange behavior led some to plot against him and he was assassinated.
